The Life Support Baseline Values and Assumptions Document is the common starting point NASA analysts use so two studies can be compared. Revision 1, January 2018, Table 3-33, gives a nominal 82 kg crewmember: 0.816 kg per person per day of oxygen, 1.04 kg per person per day of carbon dioxide, 1.51 kg per person per day of food without packaging, and 2.5 kg per person per day of potable water. Metabolic water is 0.4 kg per person per day, and it is a product, not a tank you launch. [1]
Hygiene water at 0.40 kg and urinal flush at 0.30 kg are the separate component lines published with that revision's water split. They are not hidden inside the 2.5 kg potable line. Packaging is not in the food mass. The form defaults to open loop. A recovery percent is a number you type for a screening, not a claim that a recycler exists. [1]
Screen
Four people for ten days, with every supply line on and both recovery factors at zero, is 221.04 kg. The build checks that sum. Carbon dioxide and metabolic water are reported beside it and are not added into the supply. Uncheck a line if you are not launching it. Cabin gas is where a cabin volume turns some of the oxygen into a stored gas mass. This page is the per-person rate.
Class A instrument
Table 3-33 of NASA/TP-2015-218570/REV1 is the source for oxygen, carbon dioxide, food, potable water, and metabolic water. Hygiene and flush are the separate water-split components published with that revision, not extra copies of the potable line. Packaging is not in the food mass. Recovery percents are yours. The default is zero.
How not to read the total
The total is not a mission mass. It has no packaging, no tanks, no structure, no spare, and no dust. It is the commodity sum of the lines you left on, for the number of people and days you typed, after the recovery factors you typed. If a later BVAD revision moves a rate, this sheet should move the constant, not the sentence.
