A relay pass carries some amount of product. A sol produces some amount. If both numbers are in the same units, the sols of product that fit in one pass are the pass size divided by the daily product. The passes needed to carry one sol are the other way up.
Dust can end a pass. Solar conjunction can black out the Earth line for days. Light time is the vacuum delay, up to about 22 minutes one way on the example missions. None of that is inside the division. [1]

Type a daily product and a pass size. Both must be greater than zero. The labels do not say bits, because the arithmetic does not care, as long as you do not mix them.
Class A division
Sols of product in one pass are the pass size divided by the daily product. Passes to carry one sol are the other way up. Dust and solar conjunction are named outages. They are not in the division. Vacuum delay, up to 22 minutes one way on the example missions, is on the light-time page.
